AN EXPECTATION
(A Christmas Message 2015)
With great enthusiasm and expectation we are celebrating Christmas. What is expectation? It is an expectation of God's hope on our lives.
What is your expectation or ambition of life as you celebrate Christmas? In other words, what transformation you expect to receive? Your inspiration a "Joy" transformation from old to new.
Before invention of Airplane, Wright brothers had disappointment and failures. They went away from home for several days to get their first success in flying. Their families worried on their absence in the home. Finally the Brothers able to fly certain distance and in Joy sent a message that they would be returning home soon on Christmas. It was their joy that turned latter years World air aviation.
When Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon he had great joy. Armstrong slowly backed down ladders of the Eagle landing craft and he carefully prepared a message for the mission back to earth that could heard on the television around the world.
He made a error while delivering the message. Latter years while talked about the First moon landing, the error only came to the picture rather than moon landing. It lost its importance.
The message was this : That, "one small step for a man a great leap for mankind".
He should have read as "one small step for man, a giant leap for mankind"
When Armstrong was confronted upon the message, he accepted that he made a mistake.
Sin, an error in our lives. God want to release humanity from the bondage of sin. Therefore he sent Jesus Christ.
An expectation from God is being newness in our heart receiving Jesus Christ as our Savior that is "Christmas."
Experience of joy come believing that Jesus redeem us from our sins and accept our hopeless and emptiness of life. Receiving Christ by faith receiving Salvation a New Life.
You may be celebrating Christmas outwardly by decoration and other activities, but God wants changes take place inwardly.
An expectation is an anxiety to receive something special that change our whole life style.
As child expect from father for his need, we too expect as "child of God" humble ourselves and receive his grace in our heart. That is Christmas, an expectation.
Are you experience that joy in your heart or perhaps you still in heart in doubt as "Thomas doubted Jesus?
Thomas said, "unless I see him in person and put my finger in his wound I won't trust him."
Today, many of us have same doubts as Thomas. Canada's United Church Moderator Rt Rev Philip had the same doubt.
Bible says: "Let him ask in faith with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind."
Trust Him and experience the Salvation through Him. Commitment come by confession that is newness in heart receiving an expected gift the Joy of Christmas.
Simone saw the Child in the manger and said "My eyes have seen Thy Salvation".
